The Media Officer of Kano Pillars, Alhaji Idris Rilwanu Malikawa told Daily Trust that the former Black Leopards of South Africa gaffer is using two days to take a critical look at the players on ground for the domestic league and the continental challenge.
He said the team trained morning and evening yesterday and the schedule will continue today at the 3 Mechanized Brigade, Nigeria Army Bukavu Barracks in Kano.
He said the decision to train at a military facility is to ensure that enthusiastic football fans are kept away from the team’s training in line with COVID-19 protocols.
“Our new Technical Adviser resumed fully today (yesterday). He took charge of training in the morning and in the evening.
“Even tomorrow (today), it is going to be the same schedule. The team will train in the morning and in the evening at the Army barracks.
“The new coach has promised to take every player along. He said he will give everyone the opportunity to play.
“After the two days of intensive training, he will pass his verdict as to those who are going to form the nucleus of the team.
“For now, I think he is impressed with the reception and the players available for him to use to prosecute the CAF Confederation Cup,” he said.
It will be recalled that the widely travelled French man was appointed by Kano Pillars following the directive from Confederation of African Football that only coaches with CAF ‘A’ licence or its equivalent are eligible to head the technical crew of clubs in its competitions.
After initial contact with former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach, the reigning Aiteo Cup champions went for Soccoia who has UEFA ‘A’ licence.
