A man identified as Barnabas has been reportedly bitten by a snake while allegedly stealing beniseed at a farm in Chakumi village in the Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
City & Crime had earlier reported a similar incident in which three hoodlums were arrested and manhandled by a mob after they allegedly invaded a farm at the Dafa community in Kwali Area Council and harvested beniseed.
A resident of Chakumi, Danjuma Iliya, said the latest incident happened at the weekend around 4am when the suspect sneaked into a beniseed farm to illegally harvest the produce.
He said the suspect was in the process of harvesting the produce when a snake bit him, adding that the owner went to the farm at about 8:12am the same day and found him lying inside the farm writhing in pain.

He said the suspect confessed to the farm owner of his intention and pleaded with him to take him for treatment.
According to the resident, the farmer took the suspect to a native doctor at the neighbouring Paiko village for attention.
“Some elders of the community intervened and pleaded with the owner of the farm,” he said.
He added that there had been cases of beniseed theft by hoodlums in the community and neighbouring villages in the area.
Our reporter also gathered that a similar incident happened on Monday, at the Manderegi village in Abaji Area Council when some hoodlums went to a beniseed farm belonging to a woman and allegedly harvested the produce in the night.
The spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
