A customs officer was killed and two others injured on Monday after a suspected smuggler hit them with a car in an attempt to escape arrest, Daily Trust gathered.
The deceased, Tunde Wasiu Abdul’Azez, was killed along Palace Road in Gumel Local Government Area of the state after an attempt to block the suspect who was driving a Golf car.
The suspect, whose name is yet to be ascertained, reportedly ran over the deceased after the late customs officer threatened to shoot him.
Two others, Usman Abdu and Adda’u Dahiru, who were on a motorcycle were hit by the suspected smuggler along the road leading to Gumel.
The Spokesperson of Kano/Jigawa Customs Area Command, Isa Danbaba, confirmed the incident, saying so far no arrest had been made.
