SMEDAN to empower 870 in the North East

Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has kick-started the National Business Skill Development Initiative (NBSDI) in states in the North East aimed to empower 870 pupils with vocational and entrepreneurial skills.

The programme is designed to provide entrepreneurial, vocational skills as well as empowerment materials to the youth.

Director General of SMEDAN, Dikko Umaru Radda, who was represented by the Director Enterprise Development and Promotion, Mr Monday Ewas, disclosed the development to newsmen in Yola during the official flag-off of the initiative.

He explained that the most recent National MSMEs survey of 2017 revealed that there are 41,543,028 MSMEs employing 59,647,954 persons.

Ewas said the programme is being implemented in all the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory and a total of 5,365 entrepreneurs will be involved.

The representative of the Commissioner of Entrepreneur in Adamawa State, Alhaji Salisu Buba Bakari, praised SMEDAN for bringing the initiative to the people of Adamawa State.
