The remains of the slain Director of Finance and Accounts in the Ogun State Governor’s Office, Taiwo Oyekanmi have been laid to rest amid tears at his Ifonyintedo hometown in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
The late accountant was murdered on Wednesday in Abeokuta by gunmen who hijacked a bullion van conveying government’s money.
Speaking at the Church Service in honour of the late Director, the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, in his heartfelt sympathy with the family and loved ones of the deceased, described him as a hero; diligent, hardworking man, and a dedicated professional, whom he held in high esteem.
The governor, represented by the Accountant-General/Permanent Secretary, State Treasury, Babatunde Aregbesola expressed profound sadness over his death, saying it was a great loss to the public service and the state as a whole, noting that Oyekanmi would be sorely missed.

In his sermon, the officiating Reverend, Felix Oluwayinka, said every human being should be conscious of death and live each day as if it was the end, stating that individuals would return to their Creator someday.
Oluwayinka described the late director as a devout Christian, who lived an exemplary life, saying he was a giver that always gave back to the family, church, and community at large.
He urged the grieving family to find solace, while admonishing everyone to be mindful of the brevity of life and to live each day purposefully.
He expressed gratitude to the governor, the deceased’s colleagues and the entire workforce for their support to the family members. He thereafter offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed, his family, community and the entire state.
