Khalid Bichi, the employee of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), who was shot dead last Friday, in Maitama, Abuja, was planning to get married in December this year.
An uncle of the deceased revealed this in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust yesterday evening.
Daily Trust had reported how Bichi was killed by his attackers just before 9 pm while he was out with a friend to get food.
When our reporter visited the family, they were in a mourning mood, as they were still traumatised by the incident.

Speaking during the interview, the deceased uncle, who doesn’t want his name mentioned, due to fear of being victimised, said the 31-year-old was employed into FIRS Lagos Office, a year ago and was transferred to Abuja two weeks ago.
He said: “Khalid Bichi was an easy going person and a young man with vision. He got employed into FIRS Lagos office about a year ago and was transferred to Abuja just two weeks ago. He had only spent three days in the Abuja office before the incident happened.
“The deceased was planning to get married in December this year. We are all hurt. Who knows who the next victim will be? I learnt this past week, four people were shot at different locations in Abuja, the seat of power. It’s really worrisome.”
While calling for justice, he said: “The government and security agencies should investigate this matter thoroughly to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Measures must also be put in place to ensure the safety of lives.”
Narrating how the incident happened, the driver of the car the late Bichi was in, said: “I was with him in the car. I was the one driving. We were in Maitama, going to the Circus Garden to get food.
“Suddenly, a Toyota muscle car with a sealed number plate double crossed us. There were four men with jalabia in the car. Three came out with AK 47 and started shooting randomly at my car. Unfortunately, while I was trying to reverse and dodge the bullets, Bichi was hit severally.”
