Skool Media sets up tech centres in schools

An education tech infrastructure company, Skool Media, has in collaboration with the federal government established 75 students Technology Experience Centres with over 452 projectors and 2,500 laptops in 75 Unity Schools across the country in the last six years.

The centres were meant for students to access a variety of multimedia learning content including: useful digital and soft skills such as coding, Internet of Things (IoTs), Microsoft Office skills and presentation skills among others to enable them compete globally.

According to the chairman, Advisory Board of Skool Media, Dr. Macjohn Onyekwere Nwaobiala, the centres were used for the training on relevant soft skills such as emotional intelligence, public speaking, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

In addition, he said, the centres were being used as venues for Computer Based Tests (CBT) where the software is available for the students to prepare for JAMB examination.

“We have also established eight ‘Teacher Digital Learning Centres’ to promote digital learning, research and resource centres for teachers. The facility is used to teach teachers how to use a range of productivity tools to improve the delivery of instructional content.

“Learning in 21st century should be fun, making it easy for students and teachers to interact and ultimately make a better society for all,” he said.
