Sit-At-Home: Spare parts-laden truck set ablaze in Enugu

A trailer conveying motorcycle spare parts was, on Monday, set ablaze by unknown persons apparently enforcing the suspended sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Enugu state on Monday.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred at Eluagu Obukpa in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State at about 7am.

The Enugu State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that investigation has commenced.

The hoodlums said to be driving a Sienna vehicle double-crossed the trailer forcing it to stop before setting it on fire.

When asked if the arsonists were members of IPOB, an eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Mr. Onuh, said he didn’t know because they didn’t wear any Biafra insignia.

He said: “I don’t know if they’re because they were not wearing anything depicting them as members of the group but they were shouting, ‘no movement today, you must sit-at-home’.

“I don’t know how but the driver escaped and nobody was killed.”

Fire fighters from the Enugu Fire Service were said to have rushed to the scene but before they got there goods worth millions of naira had been burnt.

The Monday sit-at-home, which had hitherto been suspended, has continued in the South East.
