‘Side chick’ remanded over attempt to kill housewife

A sharia court in the Rijiyar Lemu area in Dala LGA of Kano State has remanded a woman, Amina Nura, alongside four of her accomplices, Nusaiba Abdullahi, Maryam Nura, Fatima Rabi’u and Maryam Sa’idu, over allegedly attempting to kill a housewife, Rashida Kamal, who she accused of obstructing her (Rashida) husband’s proposal to marry her.

The court was told that Rashida’s husband, Alhaji Kamal, was bdating the principal defendant with a marriage proposal but later abandoned her, a decision she alleged was influenced by his wife and therefore decided to deal with her.

Amina and the four of her accomplices (wearing veils) were alleged to have gone to the house of the plaintiff carrying weapons and a poisonous substance and assaulted her.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Yusuf Kabir, urged the court to admit them to bail.

The Khadi, Umar Usman Danbaba Dukurawa, however, ordered their remand in prison and adjourned to October 18, 2024.
