Sickle Cell anemia: NASS urged to enact law to enforce genotype test

The wife of the former head of state,  Abdulsalam Abubakar; Justice Fati Abubakar has called on the National Assembly (NASS) to enact a law that will enforce genotype test to reduce to the barest minimum the number of sickle cell anemia patients in the country.

Speaking at the 10th year anniversary of the Sickle Cell Patient Health Promotion Centre (SCPHPC) in Kaduna, Justice Abubakar lamented that over 200,000 children are born with sickle cell anemia annually; stressing the need for the NASS to enact a law to ensure that children from primary school go for genotype test, so that they grow to know their genotype even before marriage.
