“When the mother returned, she discovered their footwears outside the parked car and called them persistently without any response.

“She subsequently raised an alarm before the door of the vehicle was forced open by some neighbours. The mother initially collapsed before she was later revived,” a source said.

It was gathered that the kids were subsequently rushed to Olutayo clinic, a private medical facility close to their residence for medical attention.

The Medical Director, one Dr Adeyemo, was said to have referred them to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), where they were confirmed dead.

The spokeswoman of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident during a telephone chat with our correspondent on Monday.

“Yes, we discovered that the incident happened when operatives visited their residence. They have even buried the kids at Muslim cemetery, Osere. But the family did not officially report the matter. It’s very unfortunate,” she said.
