The Nigeria Football Federation has come out to say that the ultimatum given to it Coach Samson Siasia as reported in some sections of the media yesterday is unnecessary.
It was reported that the former U-23 handler has given the NFF a 14-day ultimatum to pay his outstanding allowances and salaries or he would occupy the glasshouse until he is paid.
Siasia who said he was owed for five months has threatened to disrupt the activities of the NFF ahead next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, if his demands are not attended to.
“I have given them a two week ultimatum to pay me or I will sit inside the NFF office in Abuja until I get paid,” Siasia told BBC Sport.
“I’ve made it clear in my letter that my assistants and I should be paid the backlog owed because it’s inhuman”.
In his reaction, a top official of the NFF who pleaded for anonymity acknowledged Siasia’s letter but expressed disappointment in the decision of the coach to make it a public matter.
“He wrote to us and I explained to him that the money is there but we cannot access it right now because the money we have is in dollars and we have to transfer it to government account in central bank.
“However, up to now we have not completed the process of opening that account. I explained everything to him right in front of the minister of sports.
“But he has written to us to that he needs his money urgently and we replied him. So I wonder why he should take that to the media,” he said.
