Alhaji Inde, who spoke through Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of Modernisation and Economic Relations, Dr Mannasah Jatau at an interactive meeting with clearing agents at the Area 2 Command, Onne Port, Port Harcourt warned them not to take advantage of the withdrawal of service providers from the ports to engage in sharp practices. Rather, he said, they should embrace the new pre-arrival assessment report, PAAR, which he said would facilitate the process of clearing goods at the port within 48 hours.
“I want to use this opportunity to commend you for your resilience and fight for the withdrawal of the service providers from the port. We have every reason to send them away because they did not do what they were supposed to do while at the port. Throughout the period they operated at the port our youths were not engaged in any meaningful employment. Rather, the service providers encouraged capital flight,” the CG noted.
