It, therefore, urged new investors in the power sector to boost the skills of its current workforce and work with National Power Training Institute to employ trained graduates.
Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo, who disclosed this in Lagos at the induction ceremony of the 3rd regular set of the National Power Training Institute, assured that the government will give the agency the needed support to enable it play a major role in the task of human capacity development in the power sector.
Speaking, Director-General of NAPTIN, Engineer Reuben Okeke, emphasised that his organisation was determined to fill the skill gaps in the nation’s power sector through intensive training of personnel.
He disclosed that the federal government would soon send about 7,400 personnel for training under the National Power Sector Apprenticeship Scheme.
