Shina Peller finally clinches Oyo North Senatorial ticket

Shina Peller, member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has ‘reportedly clinched the ticket of Accord Party in Oyo North Senatorial District.

Peller had lost the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the seat, but lost.

He had defected to Accord Party where he clinched the ticket.

In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmaker’s Press Secretary, Kola Popoola, said the initial candidate, Prince Michael Ademola Ojo, withdrew from the race and handed over the ticket to him.

According to the statement, the handing over was witnessed by the Oyo State party chairman, Prince Felix Kolade Ojo, State executive members of the party, party chairmen in all the 13 local governments of the district as well as representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the event tagged “Official Affirmation of Accord party’s candidate for Oyo North Senatorial District”.

Ojo was quoted to have said he withdrew in the overall interest of people of Oke Ogun and Oyo North Senatorial District at large.

He said, “I hereby willingly withdraw from the race and wholeheartedly transfer the mandate I have to contest for Oyo North Senatorial District seat on the platform of Accord to my dear brother, Honourable Shina Peller.”

The party’s returning officer for the district, Mr. Abdullahi Ayemojuba, therefore, declared Peller as the Accord party’s candidate for the Oyo North Senatorial District in the 2023 general election.
