Shettima to launch initiative to create 2,000 jobs in Gombe

Vice President Kashim Shettima will tomorrow in Gombe launch the Outsource To Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) and commission the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre.

The BPO centre, which is the first in the Northeast sub-region and the biggest of its kind in Nigeria, will provide over 2,000 job opportunities for talented youth population in the state.

A statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director of Press Affairs to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yaya, said the establishment of the BPO centre made the state ready to become a hub for outsourcing services, leveraging the skills and potential of its youths.

“OTNI is a catalyst for change in the business process and technology-enabled outsourcing sector, and the fastest route to job security for the teeming youths in Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

“By keying into this initiative, the Governor Yahaya-led administration has further demonstrated its commitment to providing sustainable employment opportunities and empowering the youths to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development and progress,” Misilli said.

He added that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya extended his sincere appreciation to Vice President Shettima, for his support and commitment to the economic development of the state and Nigeria as a whole, as he looks forward to receiving the VP and other guests.

According to the statement, other key stakeholders from the public and private sectors within and outside the country are expected to be at the launch.
