Shettima condoles with family of slain aid worker

Gov. Kashim Shettima has condoled with the family of Hauwa Liman, the aid worker killed by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Mr Ishaq Ningi, the Special Assistant Multimedia to the governor, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government on Monday announced the murder of the aid worker abducted by the insurgents in 2017.

Liman, a health worker with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), was abducted alongside two others, Saifuna Hussaini and Alice Loksha.

They were abducted while providing humanitarian services at Rann community in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno.

Saifuna was murdered in September, while the insurgents killed Hauwa on Monday, after the expiration of the deadline issued to the government.

Shettima described the death as devastating, noting that the deceased died in service to the humanity.

He noted that the sacrifice made by Liman would be remembered by Nigerians and prayed for the repose of her soul.

The governor condemned the activities of the terrorists, and expressed optimism that the insurgents would soon be crushed.

Hauwa, 24, is survived by her father, Alhaji Mohammed Liman, mother and other siblings.
