A property management firm, Shelta, has launched a ‘pay my rent’ online platform to help curb the financial issues between landlords and tenants.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja during a press briefing on the product, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Austin Igwe stated that the platform enables tenants to pay their rent flexibly and as well as ensure that a landlord receives rent from a tenant without hassles.
According to him, tenants who subscribe to “The Rent Payer” service on the platform would be able to pay their rents in full through the Shelta’s funding channel, noting that the tenant has the option of flexible rent payment according to their income structure; be it monthly, quarterly, bi-annually or annually.
Igwe said the service was launched to help reduce the stress from tenants who find it hard to put their rent together for 12 months, adding that it also helps to phase out landlord/tenant tussle.
He said the platform would help to solve issues of litigation between landlord and tenant, noting that the company would target about 5000 subscribers across the country as well as be in other states such as Kano, Lagos, Oyo before the end of next year.
He explained that the company would pay the appropriate tax on commissions, adding that the property owners were expected to pay the tenement rate and land use charges on their buildings.
