Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has said activities of crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals in the Niger Delta cost the company about 9,000 barrels of oil daily in 2017.
The company, while presenting its 2018 compendium of their activities for 2017 in Yenagoa yesterday through its General Manager, External Relations, Mr. Igo Weli, said oil spill always resulted from the activities of crude oil thieves, illegal refining and vandals.
The company also disclosed that it spent N21.71bn on community development in Bayelsa between 2016 and 2017, through its joint venture, adding that it was the highest of such investment by the company with her partners in the Niger Delta Region.
