He revealed that over 17 0000 members of Boko Haram insurgents have surrendered so far.
He said, “The ISWAP members want to use the Shekau foot soldiers but the Shakau group are now surrendering because the Shekau faction wants to surrender themselves but the ISWAP elements are stopping them from coming out of their hideout.
“More of them are willing to come out of the hideout even ISWAP are making efforts to stop them. We need peace in the north east.”
On his part, the Managing Director of North East Development Commission, Mohammed Alkali, promised to support troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno state, and the North East region.
“We are ever ready to support the military and sisters agencies because there will be no development without peace and no peace without development.
“Our partnership with the military is very pivotal in this critical time. Of course, this will help you to discharge your duties and responsibilities accordingly in the region,” Alkali said.
