Some supporters of a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have denied leaving the All Progressive Congress (APC) and reaffirmed their membership of the ruling party.
Leader of the supporters, Comrade Bello Gadanya, stated this yesterday during a political gathering of Shekarau’s supporters in Bichi LGA of Kano State and those from the entire Kano North Senatorial District.
He said they had resolved to remain in APC because they were satisfied with the representation of Senator Barau Jibrin and that of the House of Representatives member representing Bichi, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar.
He explained that they had held serious deliberations before concluding to remain in the APC, adding that they would continue to respect one another irrespective of their political differences in the interest of democracy.
In his remarks, the Chairman of APC in Bichi, Abdu Ara Bichi, said Shekarau’s supporters chose to remain in the APC after the former governor defected, urging all the members of the party to unite and work towards the party’s victory in the 2023 general elections.
