Shehu Sani flays Ganduje for sacking Sanusi as Kano Emir

A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has criticised Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led Kano State government for removing the 14th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Sanusi, who was removed on Monday was alleged to have disrespected the office of the governor and other government agencies, according to the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji.

Reacting via his official Twitter handle, the former Kaduna Central Senator, Sani, said those who removed Sanusi are intoxicated by power.

“The removal of Emir Sanusi represents the incompatibility of the crown and conscience, the consequences of dissent against established norms and the heavy price of holding principles in our north. It also revealed the intolerance and toxicity of the liquor of power”, he tweeted.

He wondered why efforts of Northern Elders Forum who waded into the crisis when it began failed to manifest.

According to him, “The Northern Elders Peace keeping force led by General Abdulsalam sent to enforce a ceasefire and restore peace in the Civil war between the Forces of the Emir and that of the Governor failed in their mission; And they quietly withdrew unannounced, leaving behind an escalation.

“If Governor Tambuwal has not been re-elected,the relatively mildly outspoken Sultan too could have been sacked.”

Daily Trust reports that Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has been announced as the new emir of Kano to replace dethroned Sanusi II.

The lawmaker, last week, pleaded with Governor Ganduje to forgive Sanusi ll of any wrong doing.
