A major shake-up has hit the leadership of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) following the merging of some directorates.
The restructuring it was learnt was implemented by the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika as part of streamlining the government agencies.

The restructuring is expected to affect many Directors of the NCAA, Daily Trust learnt.
Under the restructuring, the Consumer Protection Directorate (CPD) is merged with the Directorate of Air Transport Regulations (DATR) with Capt. Edem Oyo-Ita as Director while the Director of CPD, Adamu Abdullahi was said to have resigned.
Also the Directorate of General Aviation (DGA) has been merged with the Directorate of Air Worthiness Standards (DAWS).
But the Directors in the two former directorates – Capt. Ayodele Sasegbon and Engr. Ita Awak respectively have been eased out while a new Director, Engr. Kayode Ajiboye would take over in the newly merged Directorate.
Also, the Directorate of Operations and Training (DOT) has been merged with Licensing with Capt. E.A Bahago appointed as Director while Capt. Sidi Abdullahi formerly heading the DOT is to step down.
However three Directorates – Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS), Directorate of Human Resource and Administration (DHR&A) and Directorate of Finance were retained along with the Directors.
The development was confirmed to the affected Directors at an emergency meeting earlier today, Wednesday, where letters were handed over to the affected management officials.
No official confirmation has been made as of the time of filing this report. A statement is being expected later in the day, said a source who confirmed the development to our correspondent.
It would be recalled that similar restructuring exercise was carried out in 2017 with many Directors in NCAA as well as other agencies either being sacked or redeployed.
