SGF urges team work to move Nigeria forward

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has called on Nigerians irrespective of their affiliations to work together with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to move the country forward.

He said this in Abuja at a reception organised by the Group President/CEO of Zayo Sigma, Prince Yahaya Audu, to honour the SGF and his wife, Mrs Regina Akume, who was inaugurated as a member of the House of Representatives, representing Gboko/Tarkaa Federal Constituency of Benue State.

Senator Akume said with one voice, determination and sense of purpose, the ugly narrative of the nation would be surmounted for greater productivity which will translate to dividends of democracy for the people.

Akume, who was represented by his son, Dr Micheal Aondohemba Akume, said he has the needed experience and capacity to support the president in bringing social and economic recovery to the country.

The SGF, who commended the President for considering him worthy of the appointment, pledged not to let the nation down.

He disclosed that the appointment, which is the first to the people of the Middle Belt region of the country, would be protected by offering the best service to the citizenry that will transform the country.

In an opening remark, the chairman of the occasion, former deputy governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani, applauded President Tinubu for the appointment, describing it as a huge opportunity for service.

Earlier, the wife of the SGF explained that the Benue APC which won two senate seats out of three and nine House of Representatives members out of ten could only have achieved the result through teamwork and the collective performance of APC in the past.

Meanwhile, the organiser disclosed that the wife of the SGF had been a mother to him, a reason he decided to package the event as his contribution to the success of the family.

He commended the President for the appointment of Sen. Akume, describing it as a triumph for hard work and commitment to ideals.
