The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal, has assured the management of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) that the Federal Government will support them in their determination to generate more revenue for government through lottery activities.

He was speaking  in Abuja during a meeting with the management of the commission.

Lawal commended the commission for the deployment of modern and automation technology in monitoring operators in the industry and urged them to be more aggressive in enforcement activities, to ensure that all revenues due to government, in these austere times, are collected.

He warned that the present administration will not tolerate fraudulent activities in the lottery business as it is tantamount to economic sabotage for any operator to under-remit government revenue to the Commission.

“All legal disputes affecting the operations of the Lottery Commission should be resolved speedily and those with Unused Lottery Licenses should utilize them without further delay or risk forfeiture,” the SGF said.

He told the commission that he would work closely with the Attorney-General of the Federation to strengthen the legal framework within which the commission operates to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the commission as an industry regulator.
