A 16 year old Secondary School girl, Melojuekun Barakat Mayowa, who accused Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu – Balogun of sexual harassment, has begged Nigerians and the media to allow the matter laid to rest.

She spoke less than 24 hours after the embattled Commissioner was suspended by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, on Sunday, announced the commissioner’s suspension from office “pending the conclusion of an independent investigation into the allegation of sexual harassment.”

Daily Trust reports that the teenager who has earlier detailed her experience with Abudu-Balogun in a widely circulated video, appeared on another shot video where she said there were misconception and misunderstanding about her and the Commissioner.

In the 36 seconds video which was circulated on various social media platforms Sunday night, the girl thanked all Nigerians for the love and interest in the case.

She said, “You can recall that I was the young lady in the viral video about sexual harassment by Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State.

“I am using this opportunity to thank all meaningful Nigerians that showed their supports and love towards this matter.

“And I want you to know that there were view misconception and misunderstanding between I and the Commissioner.

“I now want to use opportunity to appeal to meaningful Nigerians to please allow this matter be laid to rest, thanks.”
