Kannywood Women Association of Nigeria (K-WAN) has given singer Naziru Ahmad Sarkin Waka a three-day ultimatum to apologise to women in Kannywood or face legal action over what the association termed as defamation of character against women members of Kannywood.
This was contained in a statement issued in Kano and signed by K-WAN chairperson Hajiya Hauwa A. Bello.
According to her the integrity of women members in the industry has been dragged to dust by the singer’s utterances when he claimed that some women give sexual gratification to get roles in movies.

She added that the association will not fold its arms and watch people drag the industry’s integrity into the mud without justification. She explained that the association requests that the singer apologises to Kannywood and if he fails to do that before 72 hours, the association will be left with no option than to seek redress before a Shari’a court.
It could be recalled that, veteran actress Ladin Chima had made a claim if being under paid as an actress, and her claim had generated a serious debate on various social media platforms.
It was also on the veteran actress’s claim and the subsequent debunking of her claim by Ali Nuhu and other Kannywood artist that the singer made the assertion that trigger the court action threat by K-WAN.
