Seven things to know about late BBNaija star Rico Swavey

Born Patrick Fakoya but popularly known as Rico Swavey, the young man who was one of the most popular faces that emerged from the Big Brother Naija reality television show tagged ‘Double Wahala’ in 2018, is dead.

During his stay in the house, Rico was known to be an easygoing individual who was focused on winning the N45m naira prize.

On Tuesday, 10th of October, a former housemate of the BBNaija reality TV show, Alex Unusual broke the sad news via her social media page that Rico Swavey was involved in a ghastly car accident. She also informed the public that he was in critical condition.

Hours later, Alex Unusual and her colleague, Tobi Bakre urged the public to donate money to save the young man’s life. Unfortunately, Rico Swavey died on the 13th of October.

  • Rico Swavey attended Babcock University where he studied Law, during his stay in the Big Brother house, he revealed that he had a passion for singing and disclosed that he was a good swimmer.

 

  • After his academic studies, Rico Swavey pursued a career in music. His type of music was known to be alternative music, under the rap genre. During his stay in the Big Brother house, Rico revealed that he planned to invest the money he wins during the show into his music career, adding that he had an idea for a new sound called “Afrosantana”.

 

  • Rico is known to be a good cook, during his stay in the Big Brother house, he cooked the most compared to other housemates. He also revealed that cooking was his way of expressing himself.

 

  • The late TV star was a Yoruba man from the southern region with 7 siblings and a supportive parent.

 

  • After his appearance in the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Rico continued his music career and also ventured into the Nigerian movie industry known as Nollywood where he also partook in the drama series, Life 101.

 

  • Rico is also a social media influencer, he is a brand influencer for the popular clothing line BG Wellington

 

  • When asked what he would do with the winning prize if he won at the Big Brother Naija house in 2018, Rico said he wanted to help his cousin who suffered from autism.
