Seven Arraigned for stripping widow naked in Anambra

Seven persons have been charged in connection with a widow who was stripped naked for allegedly killing her husband by marathon sex.
The accused have also been remanded in prison custody, as the Anambra State Police Command continues manhunt for other suspects involved in the dastardly act.
The state  police commissioner, Mr. Echeng Echeng, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria in Awka, on Thursday .
According to Echeng, those involved in the act must be made to face the full wrath of the law, stressing that there is a need to protect the dignity of womanhood.
Earlier in her address, the National President of the Association, Hon Nkiru Nwagbo,  urged the command to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book while expressing the happiness of the body over the  handling of the matter by the police so far.
“Similarly we also express our appreciation to your office in the manner you protected the dignity and respect for womanhood in the Aguleri episode against the widow that was maltreated by her  in-laws.
“We have implicit confidence in the command that those that masterminded the wick act will be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to those whose stock in trade is the brutality against women,” she said.
Nwagbo also extended the association’s willingness to partner the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), noting that the partnership would go a long way in empowering the women in the area.
She said, “As the year’s mother’s day is being celebrated, we have plans to empower at least two women in each of the 21 local government areas of the state and to work with POWA in this regard. To achieve this, we have been interfacing with faith-based organisations and charitable associations who have indicated interest in working with us.
“Sir, it would not be out of place in view of your fatherly position in the state to accord you the respect of being one of the fathers of the association and if granted, a date would be fixed for your investiture.
“Finally this body would not fail in extending our modest assistance to the command in the area that you so desire as long as it would help in the protection of lives and property in the state.”
