Serie A Kankia battle Musa Haro Academy in PMB Cup semi-finals

Action will resume today in the 2022 President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) Super Cup competition for amateur clubs in Daura Senatorial Zone as Serie A FC of Kankia trade tackles with Musa Haro Academy in the first semi-final match at the refurbished Daura Township stadium.

To reach the last four of the annual football competition, Serie A FC Kankia defeated Nasara Zango 3-1 in the first quarter-finals while their opponents in today’s must-win match edged out Ashafa Zango 1-0 in the second quarter-final match.

It will also be recalled that to progress to this stage, today’s semi-finalists had to navigate through the Round of 16 matches where Serie A Kankia defeated Musa Musa FC 5-2 on penalties while Musa Haro piped Arewa United 2-0 to progress in the competition.

In the second semi-final match which comes up tomorrow at the same venue, Usman Ango will square up with high-riding Chelsea FC Kayawa who subdued arch-rivals Liverpool 4-3 in the quarter-finals.

On their part, Usman Ango FC eliminated Galaxy Mani 3-1 to set up the semi-final contest with Chelsea FC.

To reach the quarter-finals, both gladiators in tomorrow’s semi-final matches had to overcome other contenders in the Round of 16 where Usman Ango defeated El Clasico 3-2 on penalties after 1-1 in regulation time just as Chelsea overpowered Galaxy in the other Round of 16 matches.

Meanwhile, last year’s winners, FC Porto Zango, were eliminated early in the tournament after they failed to reach the Round of 16 from their group.
