The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra state, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji has reaffirmed the commitment of the commission to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the Anambra Central Senatorial re-run election slated for Saturday.

He assured that the credibility of the election would surpass that of the November 18, 2017 governorship poll.

Orji who gave the assurance while briefing newsmen yesterday in Awka, said adequate security arrangements had been put in place by the security agencies to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

"The commission is doing all in her powers to ensure that Saturday’s rerun is better than last November 18 governorship election in the state.

“We are happy to announce to the public that security will not be a problem because police coordinating security had informed us that enough personnel would be deployed for the Saturday election," he stated.

He revealed that sensitive materials for the conduct of the exercise have already been distributed to the local government areas where the election would hold.

According to Orji, the distribution of the materials which signaled the commencement of the election, would continue as the registration centres on Friday for onward delivery to polling units early Saturday.

He listed seven local governments areas for the election to include, Idemili North, Idemili South, Awka North Awka South, Njikoka, Dunukofia and Anaocha.
