The senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, has urged the federal and state lawmakers to prioritize giving direct empowerment materials to Nigerians, especially at the grassroots.

He gave the charge in a statement, following the distribution of over 140 motorbikes and 100 sewing machines to members of his constituents drawn from the towns and villages he represents.

He said that this is in continuation of the series of empowerment programs he has initiated as their representative.

“I urged my colleagues in the federal and state levels to be involved in direct interventions of empowerment activities to the various constituencies, especially on immediate or pressing needs of the people,” he said.

The distribution of the items happened in Elebele, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State in the presence of community and party leaders, who expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the gesture.

The senator said that he has always sought to impact lives through empowerment programs like this throughout his career in public service and pledged that he will never play politics with empowerment programs or delivering dividends of democracy to the people that give him the mandate to represent them.
