The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe, has empowered 1,000 women in his district with over N20 million to enable them be self reliant.
Speaking at Okene during the training and empowerment of the beneficiaries, Ogembe charged all stakeholders to join hands to create the needed environment that will bring about peace and security in the area through massive job creation and empowerment.
The senator who was represented by his Senior Legislative aide, Aloysius Okino, said over N20 million naira will be given to the 1,000 women, with each of the beneficiary getting N20,000 to start small scale business.
According to him, his office is organizing the training in conjunction with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN, owing to the age long enviable track record of the organization.
He maintained that he will continue to strive for better conditions of living for the people of his senatorial district through quality representation and timely intervention in matters affecting their welfare.
Some of the women who spoke with journalists at the venue of the programme, commended Senator Ahmed Ogembe for the initiative, called on other elected officials to emulate the senator.
A beneficiary, Rabiat Bello commended lawmaker for the gesture, saying it will help them improve on their businesses and make them to be self reliant.
