Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education says it will make concerted efforts to salvage education in the nation.
It pledged commitment towards ensuring of improved funding to the education sector in Nigeria.
Chairman of the committee Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko who gave the assurance, identified the need for the provision of more quality teachers and facilities, to ensure effective teaching and learning.
"Making Secondary education functional is a major concern to the eighth Senate,” Wamakko stated in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani.
The statement said Senator Wamakko noted this at the Senate Public Hearing on the poor condition of Queens College, Lagos, and the deaths of three of its students.
