Senate screens ministerial nominees today

The Senate will today screen the ministerial nominees forwarded to it for confirmation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Daily Trust reports that the nominees were cleared by the Department of State Service (DSS), ahead of their screening today.

Recall that President Tinubu had reshuffled his cabinet, from which he sacked six ministers and named seven new others. The president also swapped the portfolios of 10 other ministers.

Daily Trust reports that the nominees yesterday besieged the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, to submit their resumes to beat the deadline.

Senator Lado, in a statement, confirmed that the ministerial nominees were undergoing documentation ahead of their screening and confirmation by the Senate, which commences today at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

The ministerial nominees to appear for screening and confirmation today are Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Foreign Affairs – State.

Others are Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Industry, Trade and Development; Idi Muktar Maiha, Livestock Development’ Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Housing – State); and Dr Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Education-State.
