The Senate has passed for second reading a bill seeking to repeal the Quarantine Act enacted in 1926 in order to help Nigeria deal with any impending outbreak of infectious and contagious diseases in the future.
The Health Emergency Bill, 2021, according to the sponsor, Senator Chukwuka Utazi (PDP, Enugu North), was devoid of any controversial clauses.

He said no individual would be subjected to forced immunization under the proposed legislation.
