The Citizens Awareness Against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative (CAACASVI) has given a 21-day ultimatum to the Senate to probe an alleged contract scam in the National Population Commission (NPC).
The organisation’s Executive Director, Comrade Olumuyiwa Onlede, in a media briefing in Abuja, said the Senate Committee on National Population Commission should be on the side of Nigerians, especially that details of the infractions have been submitted to the lawmakers for action.

According to him, the organisation had on March 22 petitioned the Senate Committee on National Population Commission through the chairman, and a copy of the petition was also submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari through the Chief of Staff; the Secretary to the Federal Government, Senate Committee on Ethics Privileges and Public Petitions and the Bureau for Public Procurement.
He said the officials were all urged to launch a probe and ask questions from the management of NPC on alleged infractions in the award of contract to supply Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) for use during the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
“We believe the contract has been unfairly, and without due process; awarded to a company without complete technical document as required by law; this we believe is for personal gain and on the back of cronyism,” he said.
