The Senate on Thursday confirmed Professor Abdullahi Usman as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
This was sequel to the consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Abubakar Bello (APC, Niger North) during plenary.
President Tinubu had nominated Usman on August 19, 2024.
The President thereafter, transmitted a letter to the Senate requesting Usman’s confirmation.

Senator Bello, in his report, following the conclusion of the screening conducted by his committee said Usman merited being appointed to head the commission and recommended his confirmation.
He was confirmed through a voice vote during plenary.
Usman had served as the chairman of Kano State Pilgrim’s Board, and successfully superintendent the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.
