The Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has expressed anger with the commission and its contractors over ‘so many abandoned projects’.

Chairman of the committee Barrister Peter Nwaoboshi who spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt when he led other members of the committee on a fact-finding mission to the nine States of  NDDC, said the commission paid billions of naira to contractors only for the contractors to abandon the projects halfway and abscond with mobilization fees.
He said the committee was in possession of a list of the defaulting contractors, just as he explained that the committee was in Rivers State to verify a barrage of petitions received by the Senate on the activities of the NDDC, stressing that the committee was not out to witch-hunt anybody.
He said, “We are here on referral from the Senate which directed that we investigate various petitions it received concerning the activities of NDDC.
We have only come to carry out our oversight function and we will do it without fear or favour.”
