SEMA partners WFP to support over 500,000 households in 2021

The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, in collaboration with World Food Programme (WFP), has unveiled plan to support 548,775 households with different interventions in the state.

SEMA Executive Secretary, Dr Mohammed Goje, disclosed this after a review meeting of quarter one WFP work plan held in Damaturu.

The WFP Head of Damaturu Sub-Office, Mr Zacharie Bagula, explained that the meeting was aimed at strengthening the synergy the organisation had with the state.

While presenting the draft work plan, the WFP Head of Programme, Anita Narahari, informed the government that the scale up would in total target 548,775 beneficiaries with cash transfer targeting 451,054, in kind support 56,911 and 40,810 nutritional support.

The Head of Programme further said targeting and SCOPE registration will occur simultaneously in each location and training of the field staff would be “classroom-based” to ensure efficiency.

The SEMA boss commended the WFP team in the state especially in complementing government’s  effort in responding to the plight of the vulnerable IDPs.

He assured them of the agency’s readiness to ensure effective monitoring, providing enabling environment and capacity transfer to state team for sustainability and ownership.

He equally sought  the WFP’s support for staff capacity building in warehousing and stock keeping.
