Members of the vigilante group at Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Thursday killed three suspected kidnappers.
The suspected kidnappers were said to have been terrorizing the area for years before they were apprehended and killed sequel to the arrest of their informants who took members of the vigilante group to their hideouts in the forest.
During briefing journalists on the development on Friday, the Director of Security, Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi, AbdulRahman Usman said, “Following the intelligence information which led to the arrest of the bandits’ informant, he agreed to take members of the vigilante group to where they were hiding in the forest. They were killed during an exchange of gunfire with the vigilante members.”
He added that the local vigilantes spent the night in the forest and waited until morning before they engaged and overpowered the bandits. “We are happy the vigilantes came back home safely without sustaining any injury,” he added.

He commended the efforts of the local vigilantes. He said they have been complimenting the efforts of other security operatives in combating the menace of recurring banditry in Kebbi State.
