A combined team of Police and Prisons officials are currently engaging armed hoodlums in a shootout over an attempt to break into a correctional facility at Ikoyi.
The armed youths were said to have stormed the prisons from Falomo and into Awowo Way Ikoyi around 1pm.

It was learnt that the on arrival, the Hoodlums opened fire at security personnel Manning the armoured personnel carrier stationed not too far from the correctional home.
The hoodlums, according to source, were pelled but later regrouped.
“Policemen drom mobile police unit 2, Kefi were deployed to assist in the struggle to ward-off the urchins” the source said
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a WhatsApp message Confirmed the attack, saying that security forces were also trying to repel the urchins.
“They are close by but we are trying to repel them” he said
Recalled that over 50 personnel of the Nigerian Army who were tried and dismissed for allegedly refusing to fight Boko Haram are serving various jail terms in Ikoyi.
The soldiers had severally appealed to the Federal Government to grant them pardon having discovered that money meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition to prosecute insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country were diverted.
