Security was beefed up around the Bauchi road motor park where cars and passengers were searched and luggages were checked before entry.
At the New market and Terminus market in Jos North, customers were also searched while security agents patrolled the area.
The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said the increased security presence was meant to forestall any breakdown of peace.
Command spokesperson, Naomi Cishak, said they deployed 2000 personnel across the state for the New Year and Eid-Maulud celebrations. There is also increased presence of armed security personnel in Lafia and major towns in Nasarawa State. Patrol units and the number of police station officers and men have also increased.
