Police in Kubwa have arrested a security guard for collaborating with some group of armed robbers to raid a compound in Pipeline area of Kubwa, a satellite town of the FCT.
The suspect was said to have opened the entrance gate for the robbers numbering about four who stormed the area around 4.15a.m.
City News gathered that as soon as they gained access to the compound, one of the robbers asked the suspect to switch on the generators so as to distract the occupants from their activities.
“One of the residents called the line of the security guard to inquire why he had to switch on the generators when there was no power outage, but he switched off his phone” the source added.
The source said the robbers were attempting to break into one of the apartments in the compound when one of the occupants placed a distressed call to the police who arrived the scene almost immediately with three patrol vans.
“The robbers, on sighting the police vehicles, took to their heels while the security guard was arrested by the police,” the source added.
City News further learnt that one of the robbers was later arrested through information provided by the suspect.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurruddeen Sabo confirmed the arrest, saying efforts are on to arrest the other accomplices.
