‘Security challenges affecting trade in North-East’

Insurgency and other security challenges over the years are said to be the main factors that have affected trade and commercial activities in the North-East.

The Acting Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Zone D Bauchi, Mr Fatade Ali Olakunle disclosed this in Bauchi yesterday while speaking to newsmen in his office.

The zone comprises Adamawa-Taraba Command, Bauchi-Gombe Command, Borno-Yobe Command and Plateau, Benue- Nasarawa Command.

He said that trade as a basic economic concept, can only take place in a peaceful atmosphere which has been elusive in the region.

According to him, where there is no peace, obviously no business or commercial activities would thrive.
