The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mohammed Aliyu, has ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s operational and intelligence assets to identify and apprehend gunmen who attacked, killed two policemen and set ablaze Adani Police Station in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Wednesday.

Aliyu gave the order yesterday when he visited the station which came under what he called an “unprovoked and unwarranted” attack by gunmen at about 2.30 am Wednesday for a prompt on-the-spot assessment.

The commissioner visited the scene alongside heads of other security agencies in the state.

Aliyu, in a statement issued by the state police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed that two policemen lost their lives while resisting the assailants who attacked the station in their numbers.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
