This, SACOM has started changing by introducing youths to a simple but mechanised method of farming using school farm as a demonstration farm.
The competition was designed to enable youths and schools see agriculture as a real business as against the old practice of government programme.
Five schools participated in the 1st edition which came to an end in August 2014.
According to the National Coordinator of SACOM, Mr. Habeeb O. Lawal, this edition will be held in some selected secondary schools from the South West region.
Our core objective include promoting agribusiness among youths, improving school infrastructure, reducing wastage and expanding business opportunities through value chain, enhancing rural income and guaranteeing food security.
The competition will raise a new generation of educated young Nigerian agropreneurs, create employment opportunities, reduce youth restiveness, provide alternative source of income to finance school infrastructure and reduce agricultural waste among others.
