The Ilaje Development Summit Group (IDSG) has decried what it describes as neglect of the Ilaje communities in the coastal shoreline of Ondo State by successive administrations.
The group alleged that the communities have been left to the mercy of the Atlantic Ocean over the years.

Many communities in Ilaje Local Government, such as Messe, Gbagira, Jinrinwo, Odofado and Abereke among others have suffered incessant debilitating effects of ocean surge.
The most recent impact, it was gathered, was felt at Aiyetoro, the hub of Ilaje creativity and industry, where several homes have been damaged, and properties worth billions of naira destroyed.
The executive administrator of the group, Reverend Sola Adebawo, in a statement made available to our reporter called on the federal and state government to urgently intervene in the unrelenting incidents of sea incursion ravaging coastal communities in Ilaje Local Government Area.
He noted that without urgent intervention, many communities in the area would cease to exist in few years time.
The group also called for the immediate provision of relief materials and medical support to alleviate the hardship of the people. It urged the state government to help provide temporary shelter for those displaced.
