The Senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central District in the forthcoming election, Natasha Akpoti, has condemned the killing of youth leader of its campaign, Okoli Enesi, by suspected political thugs at Obeiba in Ihima LGA of the state on Saturday.

Akpoti, who spoke on Sunday at Kogi Police Command after meeting the police commissioner over the incident, accused some key political figures of the ruling APC in the area as being responsible for sponsoring the thugs who killed her campaign leader and inflicted injuries on some of her supporters in the area.

The SDP candidate called on the police to arrest the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and make them face full weight of the law.

Akpoti said she had earlier raised alarm to police of the alleged sinister moves against her supporters in the area but that no proactive action was taken to nib the ugly incident in the bud.

She appealed to all her supporter in Okehi local government not to retaliate any attack, assuring that the perpetrators of the heinous act will be brought to book.

According to Akpoti, the Kogi Police Commissioner, Mr Hakim Busari has assured that the case will be transferred to Lokoja to ensure that justice was brought to the family of the deceased.

Akpoti, who noted that the death of Enesi will never go in vain, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to call the state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to order, saying as Chief Security office of the state he should be able to control his aides against causing harm on members of opposition the parties
