The convoy of the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Segun Oni, was Wednesday attacked at Efon Alaaye in Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State by thugs suspected to be loyal to a political party in the state.
A press statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOCO), Jackson Adebayo, said the attack occurred around 3:30pm.

He said shortly after the members and supporters of the SDP candidate had converged to receive him, the thugs started shooting and attacking them with sticks and cutlasses.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the attack.
